Daniel Hugh Manning is a well-established personal stylist whose greatest asset is his ability to merge a clients personal taste with current trends and classic style.
Avidly devoted to sharing his love of fashion, Daniel Hugh Manning has a strong background in image consulting and a wealth of experience in the fashion styling industry having spent his earlier years working in some of Melbourneʼs leading salons, such as Joh Bailey, Chandler, and Rakis. Danielʼs impressive list of previous clients include......
Luke Mitchell, Pia Miranda, Rove McManus, Kate Ceberano, Daniel MacPherson, Rachel Finch, Sonia Kruger, Glenn Archer, and Jodie Kidd.
He has styled clients for a range of events such as the AFI awards, the Logies, the Spring Racing Carnival, movie premiers and various fashion parades. Daniel has also judged ʻFashions on the Fieldʼ and ʻThe Shanghai International Modelling Competitionʼ. Daniel was head stylist to Kate Ceberano for ʻX Factorʼ (Channel 10), and recently co-hosted ʻFashion Avenueʼ with British supermodel Jodie Kidd, for a worldwide audience.
Daniel Hugh Manningʼs approach to personal styling involves working with the clientʼs existing wardrobe and style, incorporating their ideas, fashion icons and images of interest to create fresh yet familiar looks that are elegant, appropriate and refined, so the client feels comfortable, confident and beautiful. Daniel takes a gentle approach to personal styling that centers on creating sophisticated enhancement of the clients features, not over-the-top designer bling:
“My aim is to polish somebodyʼs look, style them to look refined and finished without it being too much. Some styled looks can be overly busy, cramming 85 pieces into one outfit, and that isnʼt what my approach to personal styling is all about. I put the focus on the client wearing the clothes, not the clothes wearing the client.”
Danielʼs professional experience also includes working at Melbourne Fashion Festival and Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and freelancing in editorial and advertising. For the past eight years Daniel has been working as a personal shopper and stylist, assisting his Melbourne clients to nurture and compliment their existing style to create unique, & polished outfits.
Along with his qualifications as a hairdresser and stylist, Daniel enjoys affiliations with emerging and established designers & boutiques such as Della Spiga, Cyberia, Alannah Hill, Scanlan & Theodore, AG, Cailbre, Assin, Marais, Christensen Copenhagen, Myer, David Jones, Gucci, Assin, Akira and Belinda. When asked about specific people that inspire his style, Daniel always leans towards anyone whose outfit compliments their personality – remembering that fashion should always be an expression of who YOU are.
“I am not into fashion magazines dictating what should and should not be worn. Iʼm not a fan of rules in general. A 14-year-old girl in a Gucci dress does nothing for me. What really inspires me is something like Scott Schumanʼs ʻThe Sartorialistʼ blog – real people dressing to express who they really are. That to me is the true definition of style.”
As a personal stylist, Daniel is patient, compassionate and helpful, establishing a high level of trust with each client and gently guiding them towards looks, clothing and accessories that will be flattering and appropriate for each individual. Daniel understands that a client can initially feel quite vulnerable during the styling process, unsure and even confused about the new fashion possibilities that may be presented to them. With this in mind, Daniel focuses on making it an enjoyable, relaxed and comfortable experience; a no-pressure collaboration of Danielʼs fashion knowledge with the clientʼs wants and needs.
